How Does It Work?

  • Numbing Process: We start by applying a special numbing cream to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
  • Micro Punctures: Using a handheld device with tiny needles, we create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Don’t worry; the needles are extremely small and we use a specialized device to precisely control the needle depth to give maximal safety and results with minimal discomfort.
  • Collagen Boost: As the needles make tiny injuries to the skin, they stimulate a “scarless wound healing” process which increases collagen, elastin, and many important growth factors within the skin. New collagen replaces the older collagen, resulting in smoother, more youthful skin.

Key Elements of Our Microneedling Procedure

  • Numbing Cream: 20 minutes of numbing cream ensures a pain-free experience.
  • Procedure Time: The actual microneedling procedure takes 20-25 minutes.
  • Downtime: You’ll leave our office with red or pink skin, but most patients resume normal activities the same day. Redness usually takes 24-48 hours to improve.

Microneedling FAQs

What is the average age for a patient undergoing microneedling?

Microneedling is very popular for patients of all ages.

What is the average procedure time for microneedling?

Numbing with cream usually requires 20-30 minutes and the procedure usually requires 20-30 minutes

What kind of anesthesia is necessary for a chemical peel?

Superficial or light chemical peels may be performed in the office, while deeper peels may require sedation anesthesia or general anesthesia when combined with other procedures.

What is the average cost of microneedling?

Microneedling of the face costs $325 per treatment and a package of four treatments costs $1,000. Adding the neck to the facial treatment costs an additional $100 per treatment and $300 for a package of 4.

How long does it take to see results after a microneedling treatment?

Microneedling works by stimulating the body’s wound healing process. Each individual heals at a slightly different speed, but studies have shown that improved skin quality is seen by 12-24 weeks with continued improvement for the next 8-12 months!

Does microneedling require multiple treatments?

Not necessarily. Studies have shown that there is a significant benefit with 1 treatment (more than 200% increase skin thickness, 4.5 times increase in collagen). However, the multiple treatments are additive and a package of 4 treatments spaced roughly 1 month apart can multiply the results significantly, particularly when combined with good skincare. (750% increase in outer skin thickness!) For this reason, many patients choose to undergo a package of multiple treatments to boost their results

How long does it take to recover after microneedling?

Recovery after microneedling is quick and simple for most patients with redness expected for 24-48 hours after the procedure. More aggressive treatments can cause bruising or swelling.
