Facial Peels in Chester NJ

Chemical peels have been used for cosmetic skin rejuvenation for centuries. In fact, Queen Cleopatra was known to bathe in sour milk in ancient Egypt to improve the quality and appearance of her skin.1 Now we know that sour milk contains lactic acid, a common alpha-hydroxy acid which can improve skin wrinkling, texture, and uneven pigment.
Chemical peels have become far more sophisticated throughout the years as protocols were discovered to maximize the rejuvenating effects while minimizing downtime, risks, and recovery. At Urban Facial Plastics we perform chemical peels for patients seeking correction of wrinkling, shadowing, red or brown pigment, sallowness, and roughness. We offer a variety of chemical peels including superficial chemical peels and medium or deeper chemical peels with TCA (tricholoroacetic acid). Our most popular peel is a customized layering technique which delivers the strongest treatment to the most aged or sun-damaged skin.

Chemical Peels FAQs
Chemical peels at Urban Facial Plastics are used to treat aging and sun damaged skin, and therefore our patients who choose chemical peels are usually older than 25. Younger patients may elect for superficial or less powerful peels since they tend to have fewer lines, pigment irregularities, and texture difficulties.
The average chemical peel takes approximately 30 minutes.
Superficial or light chemical peels may be performed in the office, while deeper peels may require sedation anesthesia or general anesthesia when combined with other procedures.
The average cost of chemical peel is extremely variable based on which peel is chosen. Our lightest peels cost approximately $300-$400 while deeper peels cost up to $3,000.
Patients have some swelling and a “sunburned” look to the face for a few days after a chemical peel or longer for deeper peels. Skincare in this period is very important and we provide patients with strict instructions for how to care for the skin. Patients resume light activity immediately after the procedure (depending on anesthesia), and patients who underwent superficial peels will see the redness fade in 2-3 days. Redness after deeper peels may last 10-14 days as the new layer of skin regenerates. We recommend patients who underwent deeper peels wait 2-3 weeks to resume heavy exercise.
